# Tape vs Simple

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Simple at 57% against Tape's 14%. Simple also leads on rating (4.6 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). Tape's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 24) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.5). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple sells 24 one-off in-app purchases. Tape asks for nothing beyond the download.

Simple holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 14% of Tape's written reviews are positive against 57% of Simple's.

Tape ships an update weekly, Simple every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
