# Widget vs Date Today

The clearest difference is monetization model: Date Today at free with in-app purchases against Widget's subscription. Widget's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (58% vs 29%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Date Today sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Widget holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 100 and 27 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 58% of Widget's written reviews are positive against 29% of Date Today's.

Widget ships an update every 3 days, Date Today every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
