# MeChat vs Under the cherry blossom tree

The clearest difference is rating: MeChat at 4.6 against Under the cherry blossom tree's 4.1. MeChat also leads on ratings volume (98K vs 14) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Under the cherry blossom tree's advantage is review sentiment (85% vs 58%) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MeChat sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Under the cherry blossom tree sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MeChat holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MeChat has 98K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of MeChat's written reviews are positive against 85% of Under the cherry blossom tree's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MeChat ships an update every 3 weeks, Under the cherry blossom tree every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
