# Picks vs Bar Athletes

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Bar Athletes at none against Picks's 4. Bar Athletes also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). Picks's advantage is ratings volume (34 vs 3) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Picks sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Bar Athletes asks for nothing beyond the download.

Bar Athletes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Picks has 34 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Picks ships an update every 6 weeks, Bar Athletes every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
