# Scientific Calculator * vs Calculator

The clearest difference is update cadence: Scientific Calculator * at every 2 weeks against Calculator's every 3 months. Scientific Calculator * also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 64%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Calculator's advantage is ratings volume (588 vs 12). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scientific Calculator * sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Calculator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Scientific Calculator * against 4.7 for Calculator. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calculator has 588 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of Scientific Calculator *'s written reviews are positive against 64% of Calculator's.

Scientific Calculator * ships an update every 2 weeks, Calculator every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
