# IMAX vs VBIC

The clearest difference is rating: VBIC at 5.0 against IMAX's 2.3. VBIC also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 10 days vs monthly). IMAX's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (32 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IMAX sells 19 one-off in-app purchases and VBIC sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VBIC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IMAX has 32 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

IMAX ships an update monthly, VBIC every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
