# 8JS vs Marcella

The clearest difference is ads: Marcella at none against 8JS's shown. Marcella also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). 8JS's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (12 vs 2). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Marcella holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 8JS has 12 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

8JS ships an update every 5 weeks, Marcella every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
