# Strive vs Step Up Challenge

The clearest difference is monetization model: Step Up Challenge at freemium against Strive's subscription. Step Up Challenge also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 71%). Strive's advantage is ratings volume (3K vs 13). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Strive sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Step Up Challenge sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Strive against 4.7 for Step Up Challenge. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Strive has 3K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of Strive's written reviews are positive against 100% of Step Up Challenge's.

Strive ships an update every 9 days, Step Up Challenge every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
