# ALPAKA vs Barcodes Wallet

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ALPAKA at none against Barcodes Wallet's 2. ALPAKA also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (780 vs 28). Barcodes Wallet's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (69% vs 59%). On price, update cadence, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Barcodes Wallet sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. ALPAKA asks for nothing beyond the download.

ALPAKA holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ALPAKA has 780 ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of ALPAKA's written reviews are positive against 69% of Barcodes Wallet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ALPAKA ships an update fortnightly, Barcodes Wallet every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
