# Salem Skipper vs Explore Amesbury

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Explore Amesbury at 100% against Salem Skipper's 45%. Explore Amesbury also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Salem Skipper's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Salem Skipper holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Salem Skipper has 1.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Salem Skipper's written reviews are positive against 100% of Explore Amesbury's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Salem Skipper ships an update monthly, Explore Amesbury every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
