# Icon Theme vs WidgetKit

The clearest difference is monetization model: WidgetKit at free with in-app purchases against Icon Theme's subscription. WidgetKit also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks). Icon Theme's advantage is ratings volume (764 vs 224) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Icon Theme sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and WidgetKit sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.1 for Icon Theme against 4.1 for WidgetKit. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 764 and 224 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 24% of Icon Theme's written reviews are positive against 27% of WidgetKit's.

Icon Theme ships an update every 3 weeks, WidgetKit every 10 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
