# Word Tracker vs Writing App

The clearest difference is monetization model: Writing App at free against Word Tracker's free with in-app purchases. Writing App also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 81%). Word Tracker's advantage is ratings volume (268 vs 3). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Tracker sells 6 one-off in-app purchases and Writing App sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Writing App holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word Tracker has 268 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 81% of Word Tracker's written reviews are positive against 100% of Writing App's.

Word Tracker ships an update every 2 weeks, Writing App every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
