# Active Ear vs Zimrahs

The clearest difference is update cadence: Zimrahs at every 2 days against Active Ear's monthly. Zimrahs also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Active Ear's advantage is ratings volume (49 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Zimrahs holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Active Ear has 49 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Active Ear ships an update monthly, Zimrahs every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
