# Spiral Direct vs Affliction

The clearest difference is ads: Affliction at none against Spiral Direct's shown. Affliction also leads on ratings volume (730 vs 3) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Spiral Direct's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 87%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Spiral Direct against 4.9 for Affliction. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Affliction has 730 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Spiral Direct's written reviews are positive against 87% of Affliction's.

Spiral Direct ships an update every 3 weeks, Affliction fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
