# Xiao vs UDU Ear

The clearest difference is rating: Xiao at 2.1 against UDU Ear's 1.8. Xiao also leads on ratings volume (137 vs 5). UDU Ear's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and review sentiment (33% vs 22%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Xiao holds the better App Store score, 2.1 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Xiao has 137 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of Xiao's written reviews are positive against 33% of UDU Ear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Xiao ships an update every 5 weeks, UDU Ear fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
