# Split PDF Files vs Simple PDF Editor

The clearest difference is ads: Split PDF Files at none against Simple PDF Editor's shown. Split PDF Files also leads on review sentiment (23% vs 8%) and ratings volume (95 vs 16). Simple PDF Editor's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Split PDF Files sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Simple PDF Editor sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Simple PDF Editor holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Split PDF Files has 95 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of Split PDF Files's written reviews are positive against 8% of Simple PDF Editor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Split PDF Files ships an update every 3 months, Simple PDF Editor every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
