# Motes vs Planni

The clearest difference is rating: Planni at 4.8 against Motes's 3.0. Planni also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Motes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per year and Planni sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Planni holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Planni has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Motes's written reviews are positive against 100% of Planni's.

Motes ships an update monthly, Planni every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
