# BN vs SMART REC

The clearest difference is rating: BN at 4.7 against SMART REC's 3.0. BN also leads on ratings volume (1.9K vs 4). SMART REC's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 19%) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BN has 1.9K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of BN's written reviews are positive against 50% of SMART REC's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BN ships an update every 3 months, SMART REC weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
