# Step Counter vs Pedometer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Step Counter at 100% against Pedometer's 57%. Step Counter also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4). Pedometer's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pedometer sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month. Step Counter asks for nothing beyond the download.

Pedometer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Step Counter's written reviews are positive against 57% of Pedometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Step Counter ships an update every 2 months, Pedometer every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
