# Photon 2 vs Precast

The clearest difference is update cadence: Photon 2 at every 5 weeks against Precast's every 7 months. Photon 2 also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Photon 2 sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year and Precast sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Photon 2 ships an update every 5 weeks, Precast every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
