# MH World Database vs MapGenie

The clearest difference is rating: MapGenie at 4.6 against MH World Database's 4.0. MapGenie also leads on ratings volume (144 vs 24). MH World Database's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MH World Database asks for nothing beyond the download.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MapGenie has 144 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of MH World Database's written reviews are positive against 53% of MapGenie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
