# uScan vs Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: uScan at 4.6 against Scanner's 3.0. uScan also leads on ratings volume (15K vs 1). Scanner's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. uScan sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

uScan holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: uScan has 15K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

uScan ships an update every 3 weeks, Scanner weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
