# uScan vs PDF Editor

The clearest difference is ads: PDF Editor at none against uScan's shown. PDF Editor also leads on review sentiment (69% vs 47%). uScan's advantage is ratings volume (15K vs 512) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. uScan sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and PDF Editor sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for uScan against 4.7 for PDF Editor. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: uScan has 15K ratings behind it against 512, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 47% of uScan's written reviews are positive against 69% of PDF Editor's.

uScan ships an update every 3 weeks, PDF Editor every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
