# UltraBoard vs blank* note

The clearest difference is monetization model: blank* note at free with in-app purchases against UltraBoard's subscription. blank* note also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 80%). UltraBoard's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. UltraBoard sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per month and blank* note sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

UltraBoard holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UltraBoard has 190 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of UltraBoard's written reviews are positive against 100% of blank* note's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UltraBoard ships an update every 2 days, blank* note every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
