# Hourly Chime vs Pixel Progress

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Pixel Progress at 100% against Hourly Chime's 50%. Pixel Progress also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). Hourly Chime's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hourly Chime sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pixel Progress sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hourly Chime holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hourly Chime has 1.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Hourly Chime's written reviews are positive against 100% of Pixel Progress's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hourly Chime ships an update every 3 months, Pixel Progress fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
