# File Managers vs ZArchiver

File Managers and ZArchiver both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 50% of ZArchiver's written reviews are positive against 21% of File Managers's. ZArchiver also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). File Managers's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. File Managers sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and ZArchiver sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

File Managers holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 343 and 144 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of File Managers's written reviews are positive against 50% of ZArchiver's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

File Managers ships an update fortnightly, ZArchiver every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
