# Progress vs Countdown widget

The clearest difference is ads: Countdown widget at none against Progress's shown. Countdown widget also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks). Progress's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Progress sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Countdown widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Progress holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 900 and 1.3K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Progress's written reviews are positive against 88% of Countdown widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Progress ships an update every 4 weeks, Countdown widget weekly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
