# Device Tracker vs Smart Scan

Device Tracker and Smart Scan both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 79% of Device Tracker's written reviews are positive against 33% of Smart Scan's. Device Tracker also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (651 vs 214). Smart Scan's advantage is iOS requirement (13.4 vs 26.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Device Tracker sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Smart Scan sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Smart Scan holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 651 and 214 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Device Tracker's written reviews are positive against 33% of Smart Scan's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Device Tracker ships an update every 2 weeks, Smart Scan every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
