# DistroKid vs Covers

The clearest difference is ratings volume: DistroKid at 25K against Covers's 3. DistroKid also leads on chart position (#17 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DistroKid sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per year and Covers sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for DistroKid against 5.0 for Covers. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DistroKid has 25K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 65% of DistroKid's written reviews are positive against 60% of Covers's.

DistroKid ships an update every 5 weeks, Covers every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
