# Phantom Countdown vs Tears Companion

The clearest difference is ads: Phantom Countdown at none against Tears Companion's shown. Tears Companion's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (4.3K vs 276). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phantom Countdown sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Tears Companion sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tears Companion holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tears Companion has 4.3K ratings behind it against 276, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Phantom Countdown's written reviews are positive against 76% of Tears Companion's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Phantom Countdown ships an update every 2 months, Tears Companion every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
