# Phantom Countdown vs MHWilds Companion

The clearest difference is ads: Phantom Countdown at none against MHWilds Companion's shown. MHWilds Companion's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phantom Countdown sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and MHWilds Companion sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MHWilds Companion holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 278 and 118 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Phantom Countdown's written reviews are positive against 75% of MHWilds Companion's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Phantom Countdown ships an update every 2 months, MHWilds Companion every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
