# Edge Lighting vs Rot Dot

The clearest difference is ads: Edge Lighting at none against Rot Dot's shown. Edge Lighting also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Rot Dot's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Edge Lighting sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Rot Dot sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Edge Lighting ships an update every 6 months, Rot Dot every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
