# Electro VPN vs Sophon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Electro VPN at 84% against Sophon's 29%. Electro VPN also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (2.2K vs 56). Sophon's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Electro VPN sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Sophon sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Electro VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Electro VPN has 2.2K ratings behind it against 56, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Electro VPN's written reviews are positive against 29% of Sophon's.

Electro VPN ships an update fortnightly, Sophon every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
