# GhostGuard vs Cable VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: Cable VPN at free with in-app purchases against GhostGuard's subscription. Cable VPN also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). GhostGuard's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (82% vs 69%). On price, rating, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GhostGuard sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Cable VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for GhostGuard against 4.6 for Cable VPN. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 954 and 686 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of GhostGuard's written reviews are positive against 69% of Cable VPN's.

GhostGuard ships an update every 6 weeks, Cable VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
