# Soro vs Scrypted

The clearest difference is price: Scrypted at Free against Soro's $7.99. Scrypted also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and iOS requirement (16.1 vs 26.0). Soro's advantage is review sentiment (65% vs 33%) and chart position (#88 vs unranked). On update cadence, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Scrypted is free to download; Soro costs $7.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scrypted holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Soro has 114 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Soro's written reviews are positive against 33% of Scrypted's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Soro ships an update every 10 days, Scrypted every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
