# Widget Custom HomeScreen vs Digital Planner

The clearest difference is monetization model: Digital Planner at free with in-app purchases against Widget Custom HomeScreen's subscription. Digital Planner also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 2.8K). Widget Custom HomeScreen's advantage is iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Widget Custom HomeScreen sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Digital Planner sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Digital Planner holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Digital Planner has 14K ratings behind it against 2.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Widget Custom HomeScreen's written reviews are positive against 21% of Digital Planner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Widget Custom HomeScreen ships an update monthly, Digital Planner every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
