# 4APP Sports vs SmartScout Baseball

The clearest difference is monetization model: SmartScout Baseball at free with in-app purchases against 4APP Sports's subscription. SmartScout Baseball also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). 4APP Sports's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (65% vs 57%). On price, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 4APP Sports sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and SmartScout Baseball sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SmartScout Baseball holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 198 and 406 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of 4APP Sports's written reviews are positive against 57% of SmartScout Baseball's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

4APP Sports ships an update every 3 weeks, SmartScout Baseball every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
