# mooding vs Moonhill

The clearest difference is monetization model: Moonhill at free with in-app purchases against mooding's subscription. Moonhill also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). mooding's advantage is ratings volume (96 vs 10) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mooding sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Moonhill sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Moonhill holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mooding has 96 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of mooding's written reviews are positive against 100% of Moonhill's.

mooding ships an update every 6 weeks, Moonhill every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
