# mooding vs Mellowments

The clearest difference is monetization model: Mellowments at freemium against mooding's subscription. Mellowments also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). mooding's advantage is ratings volume (96 vs 4) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mooding sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Mellowments sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mellowments holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mooding has 96 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of mooding's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mellowments's.

mooding ships an update every 6 weeks, Mellowments every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
