# Dog Scan vs SynapSet

The clearest difference is rating: SynapSet at 5.0 against Dog Scan's 4.5. Dog Scan's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dog Scan sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SynapSet sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SynapSet holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dog Scan has 1.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Dog Scan ships an update weekly, SynapSet every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
