# CARL vs Semesto

The clearest difference is update cadence: Semesto at every 2 days against CARL's fortnightly. CARL's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CARL ships an update fortnightly, Semesto every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
