# KoreanSSam vs TOPIK

The clearest difference is rating: TOPIK at 4.5 against KoreanSSam's 2.3. TOPIK also leads on ratings volume (96 vs 3) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks). KoreanSSam's advantage is review sentiment (93% vs 75%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. KoreanSSam sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and TOPIK sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TOPIK holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOPIK has 96 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of KoreanSSam's written reviews are positive against 75% of TOPIK's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KoreanSSam ships an update every 3 weeks, TOPIK every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
