# Open vs Guilford Guard

The clearest difference is rating: Guilford Guard at 5.0 against Open's 2.7. Guilford Guard also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Open's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 40 months) and ratings volume (86 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Guilford Guard holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Open has 86 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Open ships an update every 2 months, Guilford Guard every 40 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
