# Hola VPN vs Urban Shield

The clearest difference is rating: Hola VPN at 4.8 against Urban Shield's 2.9. Hola VPN also leads on ratings volume (7.4K vs 8) and device support (5 vs 3). Urban Shield's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 8). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hola VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Urban Shield asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hola VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hola VPN has 7.4K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Hola VPN's written reviews are positive against 75% of Urban Shield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
