# WitchBook vs Ghost Chatter

The clearest difference is monetization model: Ghost Chatter at free with in-app purchases against WitchBook's subscription. Ghost Chatter also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (60% vs 48%). WitchBook's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (364 vs 30). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WitchBook sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Ghost Chatter sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WitchBook holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WitchBook has 364 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of WitchBook's written reviews are positive against 60% of Ghost Chatter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WitchBook ships an update every 2 months, Ghost Chatter every 6 days. Both last shipped on October 19, 2026.
