# Cipher VPN vs Cleanup Storage

The clearest difference is rating: Cleanup Storage at 4.3 against Cipher VPN's 3.8. Cleanup Storage also leads on ratings volume (4.5K vs 845). Cipher VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (42% vs 20%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cipher VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Cleanup Storage sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Cleanup Storage holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cleanup Storage has 4.5K ratings behind it against 845, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Cipher VPN's written reviews are positive against 20% of Cleanup Storage's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cipher VPN ships an update every 5 days, Cleanup Storage every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
