# School Dictionary vs Dianetics

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dianetics at none against School Dictionary's 1. Dianetics also leads on ratings volume (30 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). School Dictionary's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.4). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. School Dictionary sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per year. Dianetics asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for School Dictionary against 4.9 for Dianetics. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dianetics has 30 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

School Dictionary ships an update weekly, Dianetics every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 27, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
