# Textellent vs TruText

The clearest difference is monetization model: TruText at free against Textellent's subscription. TruText also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Textellent's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (127 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TruText holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Textellent has 127 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Textellent ships an update every 5 days, TruText every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
