# BuddyColo vs Tools for Procreate

The clearest difference is ads: Tools for Procreate at none against BuddyColo's shown. Tools for Procreate also leads on ratings volume (16K vs 90). BuddyColo's advantage is review sentiment (47% vs 24%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BuddyColo sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Tools for Procreate sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tools for Procreate holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tools for Procreate has 16K ratings behind it against 90, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of BuddyColo's written reviews are positive against 24% of Tools for Procreate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BuddyColo ships an update every 2 weeks, Tools for Procreate weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
