# Tram Machinist vs Subway Train Simulator

The clearest difference is rating: Subway Train Simulator at 4.3 against Tram Machinist's 2.7. Subway Train Simulator also leads on ratings volume (244 vs 3). Tram Machinist's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Subway Train Simulator sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Tram Machinist asks for nothing beyond the download.

Subway Train Simulator holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Subway Train Simulator has 244 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Tram Machinist's written reviews are positive against 84% of Subway Train Simulator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Tram Machinist ships an update monthly, Subway Train Simulator every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
